Rep. Ogles Co-Leads “Charlie Kirk Act”
Washington, DC – Congressman Andy Ogles introduced a companion bill to Senator Mike Lee’s (R-UT) “Charlie Kirk Act”. This bill will shut down taxpayer-funded propaganda aimed at the American people. Named for the great late American hero Charlie Kirk, the bill honors his commitment to fair and open debate. It restores the core protections of American citizens against false information from the government. These protections were removed by the Obama administration in amending the Smith-Mundt Act. This legislation creates a critical safeguard against an overreaching federal government.
“The federal government has no business brainwashing the American people. For years, the government has controlled the media behind the scenes to spew globalist propaganda. The result has been a rightful erosion of trust in every institution. The United States government should never use its power to steer, shape, or censor the free flow of information in our own country. This bill begins the work of winning that trust back. I want to thank Senator Lee for his work on this, and I'm proud to co-lead his effort here in the House,” said Congressman Ogles.
