The Ogles Update

After several weeks of session, it's been a welcomed week back home in Tennessee. It's been great getting to interact with constituents face-to-face and spend time hearing their concerns and how my team and I can best assist them. From passports to agency assistance, we've wasted no time in getting work for the great folks of the 5th District. Just yesterday, I had the privilege of getting to sit down with constituents in Brentwood to discuss my experience as a member of Congress so far and what I hope to accomplish.

It's Your Fault Act

I recently introduced the It's Your Fault Act, which would help prevent people from illegally crossing into the U.S. Biden has done nothing but encourage the fentanyl pouring across our southwest border. According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), there have already been over 8,600 pounds of fentanyl seized at the southwest border in FY 2023 alone. That is nearly TWICE all of FY 2020 under President Trump. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, in 2021 there were over 106,000 drug overdoses in the United States. Of those, 70,000 were caused by fentanyl.

Honoring and Remembering

As you may know, last week we lost two fellow Tennesseans in a tragic accident in Huntington, Alabama. Tennessee National Guardsmen, Danny Randolph of Murfreesboro and Daniel Wadham of Joelton were killed when their helicopter unexpectedly crashed. Our hearts are with their families, friends, and communities as they mourn the loss of these two brave men. Tragedies like this can never be anticipated and you can never prepare for such news. These courageous young men signed up to serve and protect their country and for that, they will never be forgotten.
