Protecting Our Kids from Gender-Identity Politics
This week, I welcomed our 2023 Congressional Art Contest Winner, Luke Campbell of Ravenwood High School, and his father to Washington, DC. Luke attended a reception at the Capitol, where he got to meet with other winners from across the country. It was fantastic to see Luke again and to also view his incredible piece 'Popping Bubble' in the halls of Congress. Luke, I am proud to have such wonderful representation for Tennessee's 5th District this year. Excellent work and congratulations!

This Week in Washington
TAKING STEPS TO PROTECT OUR KIDS
This week, I am introducing two bills to protect our kids within the walls of their schools fight back against taxpayer funding for the Left's gender-identity agenda. The first bill is called the 'Keep Our Kids Safe Act of 2023,' which would prohibit the use of federal funding for performances or instruction by drag queens in elementary and secondary schools. It feels ridiculous that we even have to address this as an issue, but know that I am fighting to protect our kids from grown men in dresses pushing their sexual orientation in their classrooms.
The second bill is called the 'There are Two Sexes Act of 2023,' which would prohibit federal funds from being used for the creation of any federal forms that include gender options outside of 'male' and female.' Whether it be for passports, driver's licenses, or TSA pre-check applications, taxpayers should not be forced to fund the Left's gender-identity politics agenda. We need to bring our nation back to reality--there are two biological sexes. It is crucial we reinforce this truth.
STANDING UP FOR OUR VETERANS

I am proud to have stood alongside Congressman Andrew Clyde (GA-09) to PROTEC the rights of our nation’s veterans and law-abiding citizens. The ATF’s pistol brace rule is an affront to the Second Amendment of our Constitution. I will continue to fight for the rights of Americans and especially for our veterans who sacrificed so much for the freedoms we enjoy. I am proud to share that the House pass H.J.Res. 44 and it is now headed to the Senate for consideration. I am hopeful that Leader McConnell will work to get this important legislation to President Biden's desk in a timely manner.
COME INTERN WITH MY OFFICE!

I am currently seeking paid congressional interns for this fall in my D.C. and District offices. The internship is in-person and will ideally run from August to December, although dates are flexible. Intern responsibilities include answering phone calls, sorting mail, greeting guests, assisting staff with administrative and legislative tasks, attending briefings and hearings, and other projects. Ideal candidates will have a positive attitude, good work ethic, attention to detail, and strong conservative values. Interested applicants should send their resumes with the subject line “(Last Name, First Name) Fall Internship Application” to TN05Internships@mail.house.gov. I look forward to seeing your applications!
